It is the first IMBA accredited Epic trail in the Southern Hemisphere, offering a 40 kilometre ride that descends over 1,000 vertical metres from the top of Mt Buller down into the surrounding valley.
"Riding the trails on Fernie Alpine Resort are like no others we have ridden in any other bike park. The Australian Alpine Epic Trail is the jewel in the crown of Mt Buller’s mountain bike trails. The base-area Manchuria & Silk XC trails are open and accessible at all times during summer operations. Some trails are shared walking/biking trails - pedestrians have right of way on all trails. The Elk chair operates daily and accesses 30 downhill biking trails with a variety of difficulty ranging from fun flowy greens to the double diamond Aggravated Assault. Start out with a confidence-building ride on Honey Bee before tearing through Top Gun's famous berms and moving on to the Timber Chair (closed 2020 season) to tackle the challenges of Rumplestiltskin and Megasaurus. Uphill access is only during chair lift open hours.
